International music festival
Harmony of Sound
An annual musical and cultural exchange between countries, musical cultures and instruments, in Detmold.

The festival
Harmony of Sound is an annual international music festival, founded in Detmold in 2021 by Dr. Khadija Zeynalova. It is conceived as a musical and cultural exchange between countries, musical cultures and instruments. Music is at the heart of the festival, and it knows no borders.
Each year the festival is dedicated to one country. This is where musical cultures meet: the world is blessed with so many fascinating kinds of music, and many people want to travel to experience them first-hand. So we bring the “visit” to North Rhine-Westphalia and give every guest the chance to experience these musical cultures for themselves.
Each year the festival brings together guest ensembles and musicians from around the world to celebrate the music and culture of one particular country. Since the third edition, dance nights have been part of the programme, letting the audience immerse itself even more deeply in the rhythms.

Our aims
Dialogue of musical cultures
We promote the reception and acceptance of contemporary music alongside traditional music in a transcultural, international dialogue.
A stage for emerging artists
We support and present emerging artists from Germany and abroad.
Exchange and peace
Concerts with invited professional guest artists and guest ensembles connect cultures. We use the festival to promote peace and bring people from different cultures together.
